About Arcanaia

Who's behind it

Arcanaia is a free tarot site made by Alfonso in Spain. It's a personal project: there's no psychic hotline or paid service behind it.

"I made Arcanaia because one idea intrigued me: that a reading can give you the pieces to reach an answer yourself, an answer with its reasons. Just as a horoscope brings together, almost by magic, everyone born on the same dates. The cards don't decide for you; they give you something concrete to think about."

What you'll find

• The meaning of all 78 tarot cards, the 40 cards of the Spanish deck and the 36 Lenormand cards.
• Free readings: yes or no, love, career, health, past, present and future, the Celtic Cross and more.
• Card combinations, zodiac compatibility and your birth card.
• A daily, weekly and monthly horoscope drawn with tarot cards.
• The 2027 horoscope for every sign, month by month.

How the texts are written

Every card, every combination and every sign has its own text, written in advance. When you do a reading, the site doesn't make anything up on the spot: it puts together the texts of the cards you drew according to their place in the spread. That's why the same card in the same position always says the same thing.

We start from the traditional meanings of the Marseille and Rider-Waite decks, and from reference works such as The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1910), the book Arthur Edward Waite wrote to go with his deck. But we tell them in today's words and with real questions in mind: whether a relationship will come back, whether to change jobs, what to do about a decision. If a text has a mistake or falls short, we fix it.

How the horoscope works

The daily, weekly and monthly horoscope doesn't calculate where the planets are. Every day, week and month, each sign gets a Major Arcana card, and the text explains what that card means for that sign. The best day of the week and the key days of the month are drawn the same way, as in a reading, not from the stars. Think of it as an idea for the day, not a prediction that has to come true.

The 2027 horoscope is different: it starts from the year's real transits, taken from astronomical ephemerides (when Jupiter changes sign, the eclipses, the Mercury retrograde periods), and then reads them for each sign alongside its card of the year.

The decks

All three decks on the site were made for Arcanaia: Golden Line, a line drawing; Tile, the same drawing in whitewash and cobalt blue; and Illustrated, with a painted plate for each of the 78 cards.

What we don't do

• The readings on the site are free. There's no paid psychic line behind it.
• You don't need to sign up or give us any personal details to use the site.
• We don't give medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. Tarot is a way to stop and think, not a way to make big decisions for you.

How the site is funded

The site is paid for by advertising. Ads have no influence on what the cards say. We also send a free weekly email with your sign's card, and you can unsubscribe with one click.
