How to read two cards together
In a spread, some cards color others. The Tower next to The Star is still a shock, but one that leaves room for hope. The Sun with The Moon is something starting to clear up.
If you draw two cards and don't know how to put them together, look up their combination here, then go back to each card's meaning to read it in its position.
Frequently asked questions
How do you read a combination of two tarot cards?
First read each card on its own. Then look at where they agree and where they clash. A gentle card softens a harsh one, and a harsh card puts pressure on a gentle one. The meaning of the pair comes out of that push and pull.
Does the order they come out in matter?
In a spread with positions, yes, because a card in the past weighs differently from one in the future. Here you get the general sense of the pair. Then adjust it to where each card landed.
Why are there only Major Arcana here?
Because those are the pairs people search for most, and the ones that come up in our spreads. With Minor Arcana, read each card's meaning and do the same.
