Seven of Wands
defense, firmness, courage
From the top of a hill, a figure fends off six staffs coming up from below. It's time to defend what's yours, whether that's your ideas or your place. You're in a good position, but you'll have to hold it with conviction.
The image and its symbolism
In the Rider-Waite deck, a young man at the top of a hill holds a staff with both hands and fends off six staffs rising from below. Look closely and you'll see he's wearing a different shoe on each foot, as if he got dressed in a hurry. The height gives him the advantage, and the staffs coming up are outside pressure. The mismatched shoes say that sometimes you have to defend yourself before you're fully ready.
What Seven of Wands means

You don't need to fight everyone, either. What matters is not giving up on the essentials just because you're tired. Pick your battles, be clear about where your limit is, and trust what you know. Sometimes all it takes is not looking away.
